A Shirtwaist Dress for Bella

Thoughts on the shirtwaist:
• Yes, I am obsessed at the moment.
• If you choose the correct shoulder size, the bust can make do with extra ease, the waist can be taken in with the sash, and the hips are free anyway. So it's not too hard to fit.
• A little piping goes a long way.
• I finally understand lapel collars on a truly profound level. I'll share a tutorial when I get to Clara's dress.

Thoughts on the fabric:
• No matter how cute the dots are, Hobby Lobby cottons just aren't worth messing with. Sleaze! Flaws!
• Boy, those dots are cute. Love the orange, Bella's signature color.

McCall's 4769, again.

Beauty in the details - snazzy boots and that piping is divine. How much this dress shows love...

Lovely line to the dress! I look forward to the tutorial, reading through your archives about your return to sewing when the girls were small gives me hope.

She looks lovely in the dress, and the dress looks lovely on her. The dots are cute indeed! And piping! I love piping.
I'm looking forward to your tips about lapel collars. As a novice, I'd be delighted to read tips from such an experienced seamstress like you.

I'm just getting back into sewing after a long break and I'm a bit rusty, so I look forward to your tutorial.

It's stunning! I simply love it. I look forward to your tutorial too.
I always appreciate anything you have to share about sewing. I've just gotten my feet wet, but am still a very timid sewer.

I am eager to see your tutorial on collars. I love to see that you do the same pattern many times. It must help with the learning curve. They all look so very different, and makes me think about what patterns I should make over and over.

If possible, could you show us how you store your patterns - especially the ones you use over and over?

I just finished putting this pattern together and the collar is the only thing that doesn't look "quite right". Anxious to learn how to do it correctly. LOVE your blog!
