Vintage Simplicity 1778: Sleeve Variation

My favorite housedress pattern done again in a deconstructed gingham (squares are a little off-kilter). I used the long sleeve piece and cut it off right above the elbow to my favorite sleeve length, then gathered it into a white voile band.

I also did the pocket band out of voile. Gingham and voile! Now there's a reason to get up in the morning.

I purchased a vintage pattern to sew my mother a housecoat to replace the one she loved so much and wore out. I have been searching for the perfect fabric both online and also at our local fabric store. However, I have been unable to find anything that has an nice drape and would not require her to iron it! You make such lovely housecoats - do you have any suggestions?
